Here's a schedule for the inserts we can expect to see in the paper for 2010. Thanks, Iheartcvs!
It's not necessary to have a newspaper subscription to get your coupons. There are numerous ones that are able to be printed straight offline. You need to install the coupon software to format the barcodes, but this only needs done once.
My absolute favorite printable coupon resource is the printable coupon page on The Krazy Coupon Lady!
Even if all you do is check available coupons against your grocery list before you go, you'll still be saving money. I use this page constantly.
Also, be aware of peelies you'll find on items and coupon dispensers/tearoff pads you'll see in stores. Take a few when you see them. It's better to have a few more to lug around now than to kick yourself later. **(For example, 2 months ago I saw $1.50/1 starbucks bagged coffee tear pads at Walgreens. I didn't have a plan but snagged a couple anyway since I like their coffee. This week Target has a $5 Giftcard special when you buy 3 bags. I can use 3, stack with a Target store coupon, and snag Starbucks coffee for $3.49llb after coupons and my giftcard!)**
Just a reminder, coupons can be printed repeatedly until the print limit is reached. Generally, coupons hosted by bricks.com can be printed again if you hit the back button and resend info. Regular printable coupons will make you aware when your print limit has been reached.
There are also printable coupons available at: Target, RedPlum, AllYou, SmartSource, Coupons.com
and various manufacturer sites.
